Taputapuatea Interpretation Center
The project to build the Taputapuātea marae interpretation center in Ra'iatea aims to enhance and protect this sacred site, whose largest marae is dedicated to the god Oro. It includes an exhibition center, craft fare, a restaurant and a tattoo fare. An 800-meter-long initiation trail links the marae to the center, with a layout that respects the site. The style is sober and contemporary. The choice of local materials, such as wood and pandanus, allows the architecture to blend harmoniously into the landscape without detracting from the sacredness of the site.
In collaboration ateliers o-s architectes (architecture), Atelier Maciej Fiszer (scenography) and Pacific Landscape Design (landscape design).
